Top Valentines Day Ideas
Here's a rather inexpensive and unique romantic gift. How about making a basket full of love notes? You can put the notes in little envelopes you make out of beautiful Valentine's Day paper. You could buy the envelopes, but if you have time and the inclination (and a template) why not make them yourself? You will save some money and they will be all the more special for the effort.Here I just took my shredder and shredded some silver metallic paper to make a cushion bed for the mini envelopes to rest on. My shredder just cuts straight edges, but you might be lucky and have one that makes zigzag folds for more texture and interest and "lift". I used a mini envelope template and traced the envelopes on the back of a piece of 12x12 paper I picked up at the scrapbook store for less than $2. I was able to cut 14 mini envelopes from it. Fold and glue them, being sure to leave the flap open so you can insert your little notes. Now just write a short & sweet note in each one. Then, as a reminder of how special they are to you, have your beloved open one a day for a week, one a day for a month, once a month for a year, however often you would like. Since I have 14 I might do "14 Days of Valentines" and have one opened each day beginning Feb. 1st through Valentine's Day. The notes can be sweet sentiments to let them know how much they mean to you -- * "I love you!" * "You Rock!" * "U R Beautiful!" * -- or they can be little treats -- "Ice Cream tonight!" * "Movie Night!" * "Date Night!" * You can use a variety of containers for your love notes: a basket, a decorated jar, an old jewelry box, whatever you can come up with.
If you're determined to give the tried and true roses, whether a single rose or by the dozen, how about trying this? Remove one rose from a dozen and replace it with an artificial one.
