I once dated a guy who gave his 60+ year old mother a tow rope for his dad's ski boat. No, she did not ski. I had no idea what he had bought for her, and I was horrified when I saw that he gave her. What a thoughtless gift. Needless to say, he was less than ideal as a boyfriend, too, and we soon broke up. I still shake my head at that.

The point is, give of yourself. It doesn't have to cost money, just spending time with your mom -- REALLY spending time with her -- will make her happy.

Please, please, please stay away from the pots and pans, vacuums, and yes, waterski tow ropes (unless that's really what they want), and give something from the heart to show how important they are to you.
